When is a Safe work Method Statement required?
A person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) carrying out any high risk work in connection with a construction project is required under the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 (WHS Regulation) to:
- ensure that a safe work method statement (SWMS) is prepared before the proposed work starts
- make arrangements to ensure that the high risk construction work is carried out in accordance with the SWMS
- ensure that a copy of the SWMS is given to the principal contractor before the work starts
- ensure that a SWMS is reviewed and revised if necessary
- keep a copy of the SWMS until the high risk construction work is completed
How can I best manage my SWMS online?
A number of companies try and manage their SWMS using generic Microsoft Word or Excel templates. This can be very time consuming because prior to each job and new activity, the SWMS must be reviewed and revised to ensure it applies to the high risk construction work and the actual workplace.
With our online Zoho Creator widget, you can manage the risks associated with your construction work on-the-go:
- prepare and access specific SWMS on-the-go
- tailor risks to the construction site
- access related policies and procedures
- manage the status of related controls
- send detailed status reports to clients and other stakeholders
